​Patty A. Sprague has been the Auditor of St. Clair County since October, 2003. Prior to that she served on the St. Clair County Board of Review.

The Auditor is considered the “Watch Dog” of St. Clair County. State laws require the auditor to obtain at least 20 hours of continuing professional education related to the operations of the auditor’s office each year. Various employees are also required to maintain up to date knowledge of governmental accounting issues.
