St. Clair County Recorder of Deeds

The St. Clair County Recorder of Deeds is the official land records official for all real estate located in the County.

The office processes and maintains all documents transferring land in order to establish legal ownership and protect rights.

The Recorder of Deeds processes about 300 documents daily. Most of these transactions involve real estate.

In addition to processing deeds and mortgages, the Recorder's staff records plats of subdivisions, ordinances and annexations, liens and releases, UCC filings, military discharge papers, mortgages and other documents.

The office also maintains records of dissolution of corporations and articles of incorporation. Property liens by cities or villages are also recorded in the Recorder's office.

RSHP Surcharge does not apply to: Any document notarized prior to Aug 1,2005, UCC’s, Articles of Inc, Judgments, Notice of Probate, Power of Attorney, Public Easements, Wills, Death Certificates, State Agency, School District, Federal Government, Municipalities, Unit of Local Government, Re-Recording Original Document or purchasing a Certified Copy.
