St. Clair County Animal Services oversees Animal Control and Dr. Tom Amlung Pet Adoption Center. Animal Control is responsible for enforcing Illinois State Statutes and St. Clair County Ordinances pertaining to dogs and cats; impounding animals found to be in violation of those laws; investigating Bite incidents; investigating complaints of inhumane treatment of companion pets.
The Animal Control Center is the holding facility for stray and surrendered companion pets in St. Clair County.
Dr. Tom Amlung Adoption Center places pets from Animal Control in new homes.
All pets are rabies vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and microchipped prior to adoption.

Animal Control Officers do not respond to routine calls such as stray animals, barking animal, non-life threatening humane cares. Common emergency calls include biting incidents, aggressive animals attacking. An Animal Control officer will assess the complaint to determine if immediate action is warranted.
