Property & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes July 18, 2011 The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman C. David Tiedemann, at 5:30 p.m. Roll Call was taken showing a quorum as follows: Members Present: Others Present: C. David Tiedemann, Vice Chairman Pamela Hogan, SCC Exec. Assist. Lonnie Mosley Tom Maziarz, SCC Central Management Charles Lee Scott Schanuel, Woolpert Michael Crockett Sid LeGrand, Rhutasel John West Ted Horn Barb Taylor Members Absent: June Chartrand, Chairman - Excused Curtis Jones – Excused A motion was made by Mr. Mosley and seconded by Mr. Crockett to approve the June 20, 2011 Meeting Minutes. Motion passed unanimously. The Revenue Report was given by Ms. Hogan for the months of June, 2011 and July, 2011. St. Clair County received $186,258.00 for June, 2011 and $179,240.69 for July, 2011. A motion was made by Mr. Mosley and seconded by Mr. Lee to approve the Revenue Report. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Tiedemann said there was mention in last months minutes that there were some pot holes at St. Ellen Mine. Mr. Tiedemann went to St. Ellen Mine where he walked around some parts and took a ride around parts with Mr. Touchette for about an hour and a half. The holes are more like rodent holes and they had seemed to have collapsed. Mr. Tiedemann received a report from Ms. Chartrand that the holes were repaired. Mr. Scott Schanuel reported on (2) items. The Green Space Plan Public Hearing was held on June 27, 2011. He will give the committee a list of attendees and the list of verbal comments. Basically the comments on the Green Space plan were all supportive of it. All of the edits have been made to the Green Space Plan. The Metro East Park & Recreation District is winding up their long range plan update. They are integrating the final trail into the County Green Space Plan. The plan is to wait for the piece from the Metro East Park & Recreation District and get it inserted. Then the committee will do any final review or simply approve them, forwarding it to the County Board for consideration. A motion was made by Mr. West and seconded by Mr. Mosley to approve the Green Space Plan and send it on to the County Board. There will be a map from Metro East Park & Recreation District that will be added at a later date. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Schanuel reported on the second item for the Engelmann Farm Phase III acquisition grant application. He has heard very overwhelming comments in favor of the project and it is documented in the application. = Page 1 = Ms. Hogan said Larry Lewis who worked on the erosion at St. Ellen Park, reported it is repaired. St. Ellen Park site now looks outstanding. Mr. Lewis said a PBC pipe was damaged and is taking the water to another direction. At this time someone is needs to take a look at the pipe. Ms. Hogan said the Mr. Isabell sent a report that everything is fine. The grass is being cut and the roof is being repaired so things are well at Silver Creek Preserve. Mr. Tiedemann said that there are some tree limbs that need to be removed. Ms. Hogan will ask if Mr. Touchette can remove them. Ms. Hogan said that grant application will go out on August 15, 2011 for the next funding cycle. The return deadline will be October 3, 2011 by 3:00 p.m. the dollar amount for this grant cycle is ($15,000.00) and to be used for security equipment and or maintenance equipment.
