*STANDARDIZATION OF FORMS*
-Standardization of forms legislation Public Act #87-1197, effective Jan. 1, 1995
Illinois Compiled Statutes Chapter 55. Counties Division 3-5 Recorder. 5/3-5018 Fees.
 
1.     The document shall consist of one or more individual sheets measuring 8.5 inches by
11 inches, not permanently bound and not a continuous form.
 
2.     The document shall be typewritten or computer generated in black ink.
 
3.  The document shall be on white paper of not less then 20-pound weight and shall have a
     clean margin of at least one-half inch on the top, bottom and each side.
 
4.  The first page of the document shall contain a blank space, measuring at least 3 inches by
     5 inches, in the upper right hand corner.  Note: If your document does not have this space
     you can add a cover page to the document.
 
5.  The document shall not have any attachment stapled or otherwise affixed to any page.
 
A document that does not conform to these standards shall not be recorded except upon payment of
an additional $12.00, added to the original recording fee.  This applies only to documents dated
after January 1, 1995, and not to any document filed under the Plat Act.
 
*STATE IMPOSED SURCHARGE *
 
Effective August 1, 2005, all Illinois County Recorders must collect the Rental Housing Support Program Fund State Surcharge of  $10.00 for the recording of all real estate-related documents executed or signed on or after August 1, 2005.  This is not part of the recording fee, it is a State Surcharge levied against all real estate-related documents.  For your convenience however, the surcharge will be included in the base cost for recording on this fee schedule.
