Highway Department

The St. Clair County Highway Department is responsible for care, maintenance and reconstruction of the County highways under the jurisdiction of the County. The County highway system is comprised of approximately 245 miles of roadways and 65 bridges more than 20 foot in length.
 
The Highway Department is located at 1415 North Belt West in Belleville. The administrative offices are open from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Maintenance office is open from 6:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
 
The County Highway Department also provides assistance to 19 Road Districts located in the County by providing engineering advice, project oversight and financial management of Motor Fuel Tax funds, and financial assistance for repair and/or replacement of St. Clair County Township bridges.
 
The Road District System is comprised of 618 miles of roadway and 74 additional bridges.
 
 
Anyone wanting to conduct work within right of way of County highways must obtain a permit from the County Highway Department
 
St. Clair County actively promotes the Adopt A Highway program along the County highways.
