ST. CLAIR COUNTY BOARD TO VOTE ON $110,500 FOR NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENTS IN PARKFIELD TERRACE

The St. Clair County Board is expected to approve a recommendation from the County Environmental Committee to allocate $110,500 to tear down 26 derelict properties in Parkfield Terrace, County Board Chairman Mark Kern announced Friday.

“This is an aggressive move to help law-abiding residents of Parkfield Terrace restore their neighborhood,” Chairman Kern said.

The County Board is poised to approve a demolition contract with Hank’s Excavating of Belleville at its meeting Monday night. “The demolition could begin within the next 30 days,” said Mike Mitchell, Director of Planning and Zoning. “Weather permitting, this project could be completed in a couple of months.”

Chairman Kern expressed appreciation to the Environmental Committee for their work on this project. Members of the committee include:

Ø C. David Tiedemann, Chairman

Ø Charles Lee, Asst. Chairman

Ø Joseph Kassly

Ø Dixie Seibert

Ø Marty Crawford

Ø F.X. Heiligenstein

Ø Patricia K. Keeley

“The Environmental Committee worked hard to accomplish this,” Chairman Kern said.
