The Community Services Block Grant is a federal program that is administered through the St. Clair County Intergovernmental Grants Department.
The program is designed to provide a range of services which assist low income people in attaining skills, knowledge, and motivation needed to achieve self sufficiency. The program also may provide low income people immediate life necessities such as shelter and medicine. The grant program also provides employment, education, housing and emergency services to eligible residents of St. Clair County.
Eligibility for the Community Services Block Grant (CSGB) program is based on a poverty income that is annually adjusted by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. In addition to the poverty income eligibility, individuals whose income is within 125 percent of the poverty threshold are determined to be low income and are also eligible for CSGB programs and services.
