How To Get Married at the Courthouse
Marriage at the St. Clair County Courthouse are performed beginning at 1:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is a $10 charge for the service.

To get married at the courthouse bring a valid marriage license and $10 to courtroom 405 at 1:15 p.m. The clerk will complete the paperwork for you.

Weddings are performed in the order in which couples arrive. If you arrive after 1:15 p.m. you may not be able to be married that day depending on the availability of the judge. No marriages will be performed after 2:00 p.m.

Illinois law requires a one day waiting period between issuing a marriage license and the ceremony.

It is the position of the judges performing the weddings that the marriage contract is a serious commitment. Dress and attitude appropriate to such commitment is required. A judge may refuse to conduct the ceremony if both parties do not exhibit such commitment.

We try to make every wedding special, so you may have to wait a little while, depending upon how many weddings are scheduled that day.
